ABOUT JUDY’S TEACHING
Judy has been bringing he almost 40 years of professional experience with her into the classroom since 2003. She has led master classes and workshops at The Michael Howard Studio, The Atlantic Theater School, NYU/CAP2, Rider University, Catholic University, University of Texas Austin, and Phillips Academy Andover, among many others. Her students range in ages and experience, including high school, college, and adult professionals. She is equally skilled at working with highly trained singers who have never studied acting to highly trained actors who have never sung in public - as well all sorts of performers in between. Students focus on an exploration of song texts, learn to communicate directly with an audience, and come away with a sense of confidence and a deeper connection to their material.

TESTIMONIALS
“Judy is unparalleled in her gift of finding the detail and drama in a song. She mines every lyric and note for meaning, and always discovers incredible surprise and depth. There's no one I'd recommend more highly to teach the art of acting a song. She's truly singular - in her experience, insight, and wisdom.”
— Tina Landau, Obie & Drama Desk Award winning writer and director
“Judy's class led me to a much deeper understanding of my audition material and of myself as a performer. The care and attention that she gives to every student is a remarkable gift.”
— Cristin J. Hubbard, The Phantom of the Opera (Broadway)
“When I walked into Judy's class, I had never sung in front of anyone but my voice teacher. Judy's empathic, down-to-earth style put me instantly at ease. She has a rare and marvelous talent for identifying what is special about each student, and helping them to embody it more fully.”
— Amanda Quaid, Equus (Broadway)
“Judy is an acting teacher for singers and a singing teacher for actors. [Her] insight into working on the text of a song in the same way one would work on a monologue was liberating and invaluable.”
— Ann Shankman, Grease (Broadway)
